It isn't as long (fine with... read more a pair of 70 year olds) and not as spectacular (tough to march the Australian Great Ocean walk or the Amalfi Coast) but for what it is...a pastoral, cultural, historic walk...it was one the best we have enjoyed. The extraordinary component of this self guided walk is the hospitality ...the transportation, the accommodation, the meals (best ever!) and the people. Just a great weeks walk through beautiful countryside in exceptional accommodation, with terrific people. Go for it!

  Our recent walking tour with Turaventur was one of the best we've taken.  The staff at the farm hotel were super responsive to our needs, the food was excellent and... read more the hotel comfortable and welcoming. We enjoyed our time at the farm and Joana, our guide, consistently went out of her way to help often before we even knew what was needed!  She was an excellent guide and well informed. In Lisbon, we enjoyed staying at the Heritage Hotel.  They upgraded us to a room which was much more than adequate, and they too were focused on providing great service.  We would recommend Sancho, a restaurant across the street from the hotel. The guides in Lisbon were also fantastic .  We were especially impressed by Terese who was an expert in Portuguese geography, history, and culture.  She taught us much during the two days she guided us.  Miguel, who guided us on the middle day was also great.  Both also went out of their way and emphasized the importance of having at least one Portuguese pastry daily, which they kindly provided.  We especially enjoyed visiting the tile factory just outside of Lisbon which Terese arranged, at our request. We left Portugal, a country we knew little about on arrival, with a a more comprehensive knowledge of its people, culture, customs and history.  This walking vacation was one of our best. …

Her communication was always timely, informative and with obvious passion for and belief in her beautiful country. Teresa was always attentive to our needs, asking us to check in upon arrival each day to ensure we had arrived at our destination safely. …
